ABOUT KIRA NOVA

Kira Nova works as a director, comedian, and artist.

She has curated and directed a number of variety theater productions, including Alligators! Experimental Comedy Lab, created in collaboration with Michael Portnoy and Reggie Watts, and presented in The Netherlands and Belgium. She also co-curated the 11th Baltic Triennial, retitled Mindaugas, at the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius.

She has created five solo shows, presenting her distinctive one-woman performances at venues such as MoMA PS1, MET Breuer, The Kitchen in New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Royal Academy Theater in London, and Art Basel in Basel, among others. As a comedian, Nova has performed widely in New York, including productions at The Box and House of Yes.

For the past decade, she has led workshops and taught at numerous North American and European art academies, including Columbia University (US), Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada), Paul Klee Center (Switzerland), Sandberg Institute (Netherlands), de Appel Curatorial Program (Netherlands), dOCUMENTA (13) (Germany), and Piet Zwart Institute (Netherlands). Since 2013, she has been teaching at Lund University in Sweden.
